The seagull that has nested on the chimney outside Miss Rukins room has been circling her nest this afternoon- guarding the new chick that has hatched!
We can see one speckled chick but suspect another egg is yet to hatch which the mother keeps sitting on...
The spectacle has provided welcome distractions for S3 Modern Studies!
With the Intermediate courses all finished, folios sent away and exams completed, S3 artists were having some time to experiment and develop their skills with a range of different materials. Today we were sculpting with clay...
We were very lucky to have a former Cedars School pupil, Heather Pugh, working with us on Friday. She has just finished an art degree from Gray's School of Art in Aberdeen and is hoping to do teaching in the coming years. She worked with S2 on continuous line drawing portraits - there were some very creative results!
S1 were creating some colourful animal portraits with chalk pastels today in art. They all made a great start and I look forward to seeing them completed!
S1 are doing the rest of their solo talks on famous Christians. The class are working on their verbal communication skills, in particular making eye contact with their audience. Well done S1!
S1 girls have finished making their bags, and Georgina added to hers at home... She has done a super job! We'll definitely need to do bag making in BC again!
This week we rounded off our culinary learning with Mrs Mackenzie-Smith, who taught us how to make fruit bouquets. It was great making flowers from melons, pineapple, strawberries and lots of other fruits! Pupils really enjoyed the chance to be creative- we split in to two teams and competed to make the best bouquet:)
