Disability

S3 dramatists have recently begun a topic about disability. We will try to experience and understand some aspects of what it means to live with impairments of different kinds and then put these experiences together into a short presentation. 

Today we looked at visual impairment. Each pupil wore a pair of science glasses which had been smeared with differing amounts of vaseline. We then had a condensed school day where we tried some writing, reading, watching a short video extract, navigating round the school and then a trip to the playground...

It was a very interesting and worthwhile experience and I think all pupils learned a lot about their own attitudes and perceptions.
